Kroger truly is a hometown hero. Over the years, they have provided tens of thousands of pounds of meat, along with other items we are able to use for daily meals and free store shelves. In truth, we would not be able to do what we do were it not for Kroger. “For the best of everything,” to be sure!

This wonderful organization has a chapter in Napoleon, Ohio (https://www.ogt.org/branches/ohio/.) After Rev. Dr. Saari preached at St. John’s UCC in Holgate, the regional director, Nancy Helmke, contacted WUCC and within two weeks had brought over two-hundred boxes filled with clothes, household goods, and other supplies that have helped us better serve our neighborhood. The national organization supports regional offices all across the country. They are truly following in the way of Christ. (https://www.ogt.org/our-story/)

We are rooted in the concept of beloved community at WUCC, an idea that was advanced most strongly by The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as the logical outgrowth of justice work. The Poor People’s Campaign was, in many ways, what got Dr. King killed: pulling together people of various backgrounds and experiences to address economic injustices, which are inevitably tied to race and gender (as well as many other factors). We are proud to be working with the Cincinnati PPC on issues of voter registration and community development.
