For many of us, the thought of Thanksgiving invokes images of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, family and friends, but for many Camp Washington residents a Thanksgiving feast is a luxury they simply can't afford. For this reason, Washington UCC administers the Thanksgiving Program, which distributes food bags, containing the necessary components to make a Thanksgiving Dinner, to those in need. The Thanksgiving Program serves about 175 families and individuals each year.
How to receive Thanksgiving Assistance
No Registration is necessary to take part in this program, it is open to all who come. Thanksgiving food bags are distributed the fourth Tuesday of November between Noon and 2 p.m. Parties interested in receiving a food bag should come to the church between noon and 2 p.m.
How to donate or volunteer
Each year many food items are needed to allow the Thanksgiving Program to succeed. In fact, almost all items in our Thanksgiving food bags are received as donations or purchased with monetary donations. If you would like to share your blessings with those less fortunate, please contact Jean at (513) 541-7757, ext 2 for a detailed list of needed items, or click on the following link:
Thanksgiving Program is made possible by volunteers who create, sort, and distribute food bags. If you or your group are interested in volunteering, please contact Jean (513) 541-7757 ext 2.
Items needed for these bags include box of stuffing mix, medium sized cans of yams, green beans, jellied cranberry sauce and chicken or turkey gravy.
